Lots of fun to ride. Took this over to a Harley event at the Pilgrim Road plant, where it got lots of attention. Heh. Didn't have more than maybe $500 in it. On the way home, front m/c leaked, fluid blew all down the right side of my freshly-painted tank! Last comment 09/05/09.

CB550, purchased by my cousin Tracy from D Carter. Drop dead immaculate, was on display in a new car showroom when we went to pick it up. In the rain. And I was elected to test ride it. Later fitted with clubmans, but left otherwise alone. Last comment 09/05/09.

Tracy later caught Hawk Fever, so I built this one from a bare frame & boxes of parts . Later ridden through Hooty's sports bar in Baraboo during a rally, but that's a story for another time. Louder'n hell, this one. The full rebuild was chronicalled at http://www.geocities.com/rzimdars.geo/tracyhawk/tracyhawk.html Last comment 09/05/09.

One of my FT500 Ascots. This was an ice-racer when I bought it, the body covered in camo material. Sprayed the prismatic paint myself, got lucky ... lower bar & a few other details. Last comment 09/05/09.

CB500T, owned for a brief period of time ... seller had already purchased new tires, pipes, etc, which gave me a bit of a headstart. Nothing major here, just an overall cleanup and detail. Last comment 09/05/09.

Donor '75 CL360 frame. Too much rust & old paint, time to dip it and strip it! This was the basis of my Winter '04 project ... Last comment 09/05/09.

My main ride for the latter half of '05, a '97 Triumph Daytona T595. Wolf pipes, Penske shock, easy to get into trouble with this one! Last comment 09/05/09.

Cassie, my number one mechanic. That's a W650 in the background, I looked for two years to find one that'd been crashed, finally this one turned up. Note: that BSA-style headlight & mount will turn up later on the CL/EX project later in the garage .. Last comment 09/05/09.

XS650 the day I brought it home. Ugly yes, but at least it was slow. Time to shed some weight! Last comment 09/05/09.

One of a pair of SRX's I owned, this one started as a rolling chassis. Full rebuild, 99% stock. Fun bike, very "Hawk-like" in character. Difficult to kickstart in January. Last comment 09/05/09.

BMW R65LS, first & only Beemer I've owned. Great tractor-like power delivery, decent handling but not much ground clearance. Stable and ready to go the distance. I miss this one. Last comment 09/05/09.

... here's the end result, my entry into the Half Grand Prix. Only thing I had to farm out was the dipping of the tank. Sprayed everything with rattle cans, left the sides bare & clearcoated them. Last comment 09/05/09.

Highway stripe was actually shelf paper. The Half Grand Prix was a day-long road rally for bikes built for $500 or less. I had under $490 in this one, including initial purchase price. Finished the ride in fine style, and no, I didn't have a budget for a seat pad. Last comment 09/05/09.

Pair of basket case GS500E's purchase for $300. One had complete motor, other had a straight frame, both had way too much rust. Last comment 09/05/09.
